My Approach

Starting therapy can feel uncertain and scary. I commit to creating an open, safe, and honest place. I use methods and techniques individualized to help you best reach your goals.

Modalities

ACT
(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

ACT is a type of therapy that supports you with learning to accept uncomfortable thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to living in a way that aligns with your values.

CBT
(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

CBT is a type of therapy that helps you understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By reshaping negative thought patterns we can improve emotions and actions.

PMH Trained
(Perinatal Mental Health)

This specialty focuses on mental health pre- and post-childbirth. It’s imperative to understand and make space for the immense biological, psychological and social changes that come with pregnancy and parenthood. Maternal mental health is so important because it impacts the entire family.

SE
(Somatic Experiencing)

SE focuses on the body’s natural ability to heal from trauma and stressors. This approach is more body focused and use body awareness, mindfulness, and movement to support the nervous system with regulating itself.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on exploring relationship patterns, past experiences, and our inner thoughts to develop more insight and emotional awareness.

I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening—a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation. I have little doubt that as individuals, families, communities, and even nations, we have the capacity to learn how to heal and prevent much of the damage done by trauma. In so doing, we will significantly increase our ability to achieve both our individual and collective dreams. — Peter Levine
